My name is Ellen Duthie and I am a writer of philosophy and literature for children.

I am interested in children’s literature, philosophical practice with children and the links between the two.

In 2014 I cofounded Wonder Ponder, and haven’t looked back since,

I am passionate about exploring, researching and developing interesting ways of awakening philosophical curiosity and generating questions in small, medium and large sized people. I am particularly excited about the possibilities offered by the narrative images we compose for the Visual Philosophy for All Ages project at Wonder Ponder. I am also obsessed with trying out ways of engaging children not only as receivers of provocations for thought, but as creators of provocations (literary and visual) to give others food for thought. Children as thought-provokers.

Since 2017 I codirect the International Course of Philosophy, Literature, Art and Childhood (Curso Internacional de Filosofía, Literatura, Arte e Infancia -FLAI) that takes place every year in the mediaeval town of Albarracín.

My first book with Wonder Ponder was Cruelty Bites. My latest book is Dying to Ask! I am currently working on a book about war and several others: a book about the future, a book about home, a series of books for babies…
